At the time of capture it weighed 25lb 2oz, but for it to be claimed as a record it had to be taken into shore. Hour and a half later it was recorded as 23lb 12oz. I didnt think for one minute it was going to get the response and publicity which it did. I already had a great fish last year weighing 19.5lb so to beat this so soon was unexpected, even tho the number of doubles I was getting it was only a matter of time a twenty would come my way.
It has been quite a few months since, with radio interviews and articles printed in the press. Click on the links below to see a selection. Also see the EXCLUSIVE story which appeared in Trout Fisherman magazine.
I have turned down substantial offers from collectors overseas to buy the fish, but from the moment she was in the boat there was only one place for her to be. The fish has become somewhat of a tourist attraction in Clonbur and can be seen in Burkes Bar. Why not call in and have a look. If I'm not out on the lake you just might see me there.

ISFC Awards Feb 2013

The Annual Presentation of Awards for the Irish Specimen Fish Committee was held at Bewleys Hotel, Swords, Dublin on 16th Feb 2013.
Unfortunately I was not able to attend but was pleasantly surprised later find out I was to get two awards. The first for getting the biggest trout for 2012 in catching my record ferox and the second a special award for 'Best International Specimen Fish of the Year Award' with was a magnificent wooden plaque.
Many Thanks to the ISFC.
